TARAVAL PEAK
The Taraval Peak is the first Technical Lifestyle expansion for the Vectiv collection. Using the Vectiv outsole and TPU rocker plate, the Taraval Peak amplifies a mix of familiar lifestyle materials combined with unique construction and technical molded elements.

Inspiration
The initial briefing of the Taraval Peak started under lock-down during the height of Covid. The world was mostly shut down and thoughts loomed of when or if the world would ever return back to normal. Limited contact with friends, family, and the world in which we live was encouraged. The world felt lonely, still, and desolate. Nature and the industrialized world merged and created a new desire to get out of the house and explore.

Initial Exploration
The initial thought for this new design was to create a Technical Lifestyle silhouette that would possess the same Vectiv tooling system in combination with a trend right upper. The original Vectiv Taraval Hike was to be used as the starting point. Details and design elements were identified to keep and build upon in conjunction with newly introduced aesthetic styling and materials.

Initial Design Direction
These concepts are a representation of the new design direction for the Taraval Peak.
• Faster Design Lines
• Refined Layering
• Approach Shoe Aesthetics

Design Refinement
The finalizing of the Taraval Peak design included three key design elements. These three design elements would help to separate the Taraval Peak from the Taraval Hike as well as initiate a new style that would live in the Technical Lifestyle category.
• Bootie Construction
• Wide Base Approach Style Lacing
• Molded TPU Top Eyestay

Direction Finalization
The final direction for the Taraval Peak was focused around streamlining the fit of the collar, construction of wide based lacing, and the introduction of unique collection branding.

TPU MOLDED “Z” EYESTAY
The molded TPU top eyestay is a key design detail that will be an identifier that separates the Taraval Peak form the standard Taraval Hike silhouette. It is also the main identifier that will indicate that the Taraval Peak is a Technical Lifestyle Product.
TARAVAL BRANDING
Because the Taraval Peak would be the first Technical Lifestyle silhouette for the Vectiv collection, branding would be another identifier that would be used to separate it from the Hike category. The word “TARAVAL” is created in a abstract block font that can read as a text or badge.
